Spring Break::

Monday, April 1st, 2013 by Jerrell

If you have young children, you’re probably just getting back from Spring Break. And the rest of us are probably jealous. I know I am! I miss the beach vacation days. Now that it has finally warmed up in the DC area, I can’t stop thinking about taking a really fantastic vacation. We’re also planning our honeymoon, so that’s not helping at all. We’re thinking either Hawaii or Bora Bora? Do any of you have a vacation coming up? What was your best vacation?

Momentary Solace::

Yesterday, a friend said to me, “You are so full of sunshine, are you ever overwhelmed?” ….. Ah, are you kidding?! Everyone has a day or week when life seems overwhelming (if you’ve found a cure, please leave a comment!),  especially when you are trying to navigate your own life and those of the people around you.

This is an exciting time in our house, but it’s chaotic to say the least.  I’m launching a new product, my husband has a new product, one daughter is getting married, the other daughter moved 3 states away and our son has moved to another NFL team while his new bride and I plan a rather large reception for them in March.  Surprisingly, those things don’t overwhelm me. Meltdowns overwhelm me!  In my perfect world, people smile through the tough times…if only in my dreams :)

So what do I do to stay sane? I dream. A LOT!  This week, I’m dreaming of sandy beaches, sun that requires the darkest Tom Ford sunnies and a tropical beverage.  Take a moment and travel in pictures with me. I guarantee momentary solace.

Known as the Magic Isles, Maui, Hawaii takes visitors on a journey filled with surf, sand and sun. Among the variety of accommodations, the Fairmont Kea Lani offers visitors a newly renovated resort. If you want to golf or lounge by the multiple pools, the Kea Lani offers a place to unwind. Skyview Soaring showcases the best views of Maui from a seaplane. Leaving from Hana airport, the ride lasts either thirty minutes to an hour, while viewing the Maui coast and volcanoes.The Shops at Wailea is located in Wailea Resort and presents some of the best shopping on the island. From art galleries to luxury brands and real estate, a variety of goods can be found. For lunch or dinner, Mama’s Fish House is considered a must for any visitor. The price leans toward the high range, but the atmosphere and food is well worth it. Grand Wailea Resort offers a great spa with ocean views. Also it doesn’t hurt that Grand Wailea was voted “Top 10 Spas in the US” by Conde Nast.

Traveling these days can be a hassle enough on its own. Between the way-too-intense security checks, overly delayed flights, to trying to remember just how many ounces can you actually carry on, traveling can be quite the stress inducer. Well, with the help of modern technology, there’s no reason you have to let it overcome you. Have a smart phone? Then here are three of our favorite, cannot travel without, apps for your phone:

Flight Tracker Pro

This one is a MUST have for any traveler, or even if you just frequent the airport to pick people up. This app gives you up to the second updates on where a plane is traveling, and will even send you alerts when something has changed. This is well work the few dollar investment!

Orbitz for the iPhone

Have you ever found out last minute that you would be traveling and needed to book a hotel room? Of all the traveling websites, (Kayak, Priceline, Hotwire, ect…), we’ve found the Orbitz app is the easiest one to use. It’s clean and fast and you can assure yourself that you’re going to make that last minute girls trip!

Bag Check’r

With the new regulations that require allow airlines to rip you off charge you a $25+ fee for your bags, making sure everything is tight and compact, and in just one suitcase, is absolutely imperative. The last thing you want is a $50 overage fee, so use the Bag Check’r app to help you pack. This little tool even keeps track of how much everything weighs for you! Staying organized is totally the key to successful travel, and this app makes that easy!

Those are three of our favorites, what are yours that you use to help alleviate the travel stress??

Travel is not something that you simply do. It is a lifestyle and an experience that should take you beyond your imagination. When you close your eyes and think of the memories, the images should be vibrant. The travel experience does not begin upon check-in at a hotel, but it begins when walk out of your front door to begin your journey. So every once in a while, you may need to “upgrade with class.” Sometimes you need to upgrade your experience in order to increase how pleasurable it can be. We create the aura surrounding our space and experiences. So why not create a space of luxury, peace of mind and tranquility on occasion. Trust me, it’s an experience that will positively anchor your travel and leave you with the most vivid memories.
