One of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, Kerry Washington never fails us. She’s an actress, political activist, L’Oreal spokesperson and fashion enthusiast. You’ll often see her sitting front row at major fashion shows like Calvin Klein and Jason Wu, or you’ll see her stunning on the red carpet in her favorite brands like Valentino, Marchesa and Michael Kors, amongst other major design houses. Starting this week, I’ll be bringing you the latest in fashion trends and all of the ways you can wear them, from work to the weekend. One of the biggest complaints we hear from Posh shoppers is that their closets are full of work clothes that they can’t wear anywhere else. I’m here to help you select items that can be re-assembled to take you wherever you need to go.
This week, I wanted to share one of my favorite trends for the Spring: Ladylike Dressing. I like to think of it as “Ladies Who Lunch” meets “Ladies Who Launch.” Start looking for pieces that feel sophisticated, yet modern. Like these Repetto ballet flats, but in a red patent leather. Also, focus on pairing classic items, with more modern pieces like this classic J.Crew jacket with those fabulous Charlotte Olympia pumps. The great thing is that all of these items, with the switch of a handbag, are as appropriate for the office as they are for dinner with girlfriends. And that makes them worth the investment.
When she hit the red carpet at Sunday night’s Golden Globes, our mouth’s were literally dropped in awe. With legs that seemingly went on for decades (seriously, saying “days” is simply not enough in this case), and a dress that fit her body so perfectly that we contemplated putting down the cupcake in our hand (don’t worry, we didn’t), Ms. Hathaway was the perfect vision of Hollywood glamour as she easily stole the award for best dressed of the evening.
A devout client of Rachel Zoe’s, we remembered that we always love the way Anne is dressed. She is always appropriate, always a little daring, always perfectly feminine with just the right amount of sparkle, and always perfectly put together. Her hair is always on point, her accessories never over bearing and her makeup is always perfectly dramatic. We also think she is the perfect definition of “the happiest girls are the prettiest girls” as she always has the most joyous smile on her face at all times, and Hollywood can never get enough of it!
