Glossy Box:: Summer Nights

Almost no day of the month makes me more excited than the day that my GLOSSY BOX arrives. That little perfectly wrapped pink box is filled with so much joy that I can hardly stand it! For someone that’s a beauty addict like myself, you’re silly if you don’t allow yourself this tiny little gift every month. I have found some of my all time favorite products in there, and August’s Summer Nights box was no different. The products in this month’s box, pictured above, were all brand new to me, so it was great getting to try a bunch of new things. These two were my favorites from the box:

Figs & Rouge Lip, Face & Body Balm- This stuff is A-MA-ZING. Take it from a product addict that has tried every similar product, this stuff just works. It smells wonderful, is packaged absolutely adorably (y’all know what a sucker I am for great packaging!) and best of all, it really, really works. My lips were instantly moisturized! I haven’t used it elsewhere yet, but I have no doubt it will work just as well. I’ll absolutely be buying more from this company!

Sebastian Color Ignite Multi Tone Shampoo & Conditioner- I’ve used Sebastian before, but never this line, and now I am totally sold. Both products are specifically made to target color treated hair and deliver moisture where needed and restructure dead fibers. The conditioner is a mousse like product, which is something I’ve never tried before in a conditioner, but it works really, really well. I love knowing that I’m using quality products on my hair!

Drug Store Beauty Buys::

It’s been a while since we’ve shared our favorite deals and steals in the beauty world with you, but that’s just because we’ve seriously been out scouring the beauty market finding our absolute favorite products for Spring/Summer for you. And let us be the first to say, there’s SO many good finds that we cannot wait to share with you. Let’s start with some great drug store buys… cheap enough to not break the bank, but quality so excellent that we cannot keep these to ourselves!

Poppy colored lips are all the rage for Spring beauty (See: Elizabeth Banks at the Met Gala this past Monday) and Apple Polish by Revlon is the perfect purchase to fill your poppy colored needs. For just $8.99, you won’t be upset if you only find a way to wear it even just a few times!

This is L’Oreal’s amazing, amazing makeup primer at a really unbeatable price. We’d compare how well this works to ‘Photo Finish‘ by Smashbox, but for a fraction of the price. Use it after moisturizer but before your foundation to smooth out the skin tone and fill in those fine lines and wrinkles. This product REALLY works.

We love us some Sonia Kashuk, and we cannot recommend her makeup brushes more highly! They’re soft, durable (seriously, they last for years!) and do a great job! These are three brushes that you’ll find yourself using on a daily basis, and for a price like $19.99, you’re seriously getting a steal!

You’ve heard us talk about some of the colors from Essie’s Spring collection before, but you really seriously need to stock up on them. How perfect are all those neutrals and pastels? Won’t they be perfect with your bold, bright colored outfits? Je A’dore.

‘Tis the season to be tan and sometimes you gotta fake it til you make it! It’s been a long, cold, dark winter and now it’s time to brighten your skin up– the HEALTHY way! Try these L’Oreal sublime bronzing towelettes, they’re bound to cure your pasty white blues.

Beauty Best:: Skincare

One of the most important parts of knowing how to take care of yourself correctly is finding the right skincare products for you. Did you know that your skin absorbs 60% of the products that you put on it?! That’s why researching products and finding out what’s actually inside is so extremely important! Luckily for you, we’ve done the research and are here to give you four amazing tried and true skincare products that are POSH approved and recommended–

This product is the closest thing to magic that we’ve ever come across in the beauty world. B.B. Cream is this amazing product that helps diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines and uneven skintone while providing natural coverage that conceals imperfections. It comes in one shade, and it blends with every skin tone… seriously! While this product is technically a skincare product, you can use it as a base for your foundation and you’ll love how it enhances your cheekbones and adds the perfect highlights to the rest of your face. This may be our favorite product of 2011! We love Boscia’s product because it’s packed full with healing ingredients like jojoba leaf and willowherb, and their B.B. cream has SPF 27 inside, so you won’t have to worry about sun damage throughout the day.

We found JuiceBeauty by accident and fell completely in love with this Green Apple Peel for sensitive skin. JuiceBeauty is a 100% organic company that uses juice as the base for every product rather than the typical water base that other organic companies use, which means that every product is packed with antioxidants and vitamins. This product helps to reduce breakouts, discolorations and fine lines, and the antioxidants in the juice help to leave a glowing complexion. Beware: the smell is intense, but it’s completely worth the 10 minutes of smell once you see your radiant skin after washing it off!

Is anything worse than a nasty little blemish popping up the morning of a big day? Well, or really even just on a normal day? That’s why we’re so excited to tell you about this Alba treatment gel that we found while trolling Target one day, and we haven’t used another spot treatment since! It’s made of 2% salicylic acid (the most common ingredient in acne fighting products), willow bark extract and aloe and chamomile for soothing the redness and inflammation. You’ll start to notice a difference in just a couple of hours (seriously, we swear!) and for only $9.29, you will not be disappointed!

 

This Olay Total Effects Cleanser is one of Jewell’s favorite drug store beauty products because it really works! It is a daily cleanser that removes all dirt and makeup (even that stubborn mascara that always seems to leave residue!) while the 7 anti-aging benefits help to revitalize your skin. Your face feels clean, refreshed and radiant after every wash! What a steal!

Beauty Review:: Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel

I have a confession to make: my name is Libby and I am a complete beauty product junkie. We here at POSH have heard your cry for more beauty product reviews and I am here to deliver!

Here’s a little bit more about me: I work at POSH as a writer for Posh’s Black Book and an online merchandiser at ShopPoshBoutique.com, I love a strong red lip {so chic on all skin types!} and I am way too passionate about women {and men!} taking care of their skin. My bathroom is overflowing with beauty products because I feel a strong need to always be on top of the latest beauty trends and I am never one to shy aware from taking a beauty risk. My favorite night consists of watching The Real Housewives of Anywhere while putting on my favorite mask and enjoying a glass of red wine. All that being said, I have so many exciting things to share, and I can’t wait to get down to all the beauty basics with you in my new weekly post we’re calling “Libby Loves Lipstick” {Cute, no?}. So without further ado, here’s my favorite beauty product right now that I absolutely CANNOT live without::

I was introduced to Boscia Skincare by my cousin’s wife, and based off of her glowing reviews of their Luminizing Black Mask, I figured I’d just give it a shot.  What I found was an unbelievable skincare company that I seriously love. {You’ve seen Boscia mentioned here, here and here}

Most recently, I bought the Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel because I had read really positive reviews and had to try it for myself. And I have to say, it’s A-MAZING. It’s cool to the touch, so it tingles your skin for about a minute after applying which is when it instantly tightens and refines your pores, and the charcoal {that’s what makes it black. Don’t worry, it dries clear} absorbs excess oil and impurities while the glycolic acid clarifies your skin and smooths out rough texture. It absorbs excess oil so it keeps you matte the ENTIRE day.

I’ll be honest, the first 6-7 days that I used it, I hated it- my skin got aggravated and broke out. But after that first week, my skin has cleared up, smoothed out and is THE softest that it’s ever been. I’m pretty sure that my skin was just purging out the impurities, which is typical when you begin using a new product. Whatever it was, I don’t care, because I am in LOVE with the what it’s done to my skin since then. I use it as a replacement for my moisturizer in the AM, but it can be used at night as well. Using it just once a day has provided more than enough moisture to keep my skin soft the entire day though. I don’t think I’ll ever go without this product going forward- it’s seriously just that great.

I would highly recommend this for all skin types. You will NOT be disappointed with the results.
