The holiday season has officially begun! Between the food, wine and traveling, waking up on November 25th a few pounds heavier is usually a guarantee. Not this year! I’m signed up for the Ashburn Farm 10k, a local race to benefit the HUMBLE school in Nigeria. It’s my first 10k and I am so excited about it. Eating an extra slice of sweet potato pie this year will be a reward for my hard work instead of the usual display of my lack of self control. I’m encouraging every one of you to sign up for a local Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving whether it be a 5k, 10k or just a 1 mile fun run. If you can’t find a local race, try doing a virtual turkey trot like the Feed the Turkey 5k to benefit charity: water on dailymile.com or one of the many challenges on Nike+. It’s a simple way to show how thankful you are for your health.
And while you’re at it, make sure you’re running those pounds off in style! Here’s a preview of what I’ll be wearing on Saturday. I might not win the race (or even my age group!), but I’ll be looking good at the finish line!
