-Born and raised in Los Angeles to an acting family, it was in Blake’s blood to end up in this industry. Although it wasn’t until her junior year of highschool that her brother sent her on a few auditions and she ended up landing her breakout role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. In 2007, she landed a role in the CW’s Gossip Girl– the role that shot her to the spotlight, and right into the arms of the worlds most prestigious fashion houses.
“Gossip Girl completely blew open the door to fashion for me. I’d go to fashion shows and call my publicist and say, “Can I wear that?” I think I became my own stylist by not knowing any better. And once I was told it was time to get one, I thought: This is one of my favorite hobbies! And I’m going to pay someone to steal my hobby from me? That’s a terrible idea!”
In January of 2011 Blake was hand selected by Karl Lagerfeld to be the face of Chanel’s MADEMOISELLE handbag collection. A very special honor, as the campaign was photographed by Mr. Lagerfeld himself. This collaboration is a complete dream come true for Blake:
“I had other opportunities and I would say, ‘Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel,’ ” she said. “That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, ‘Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,’ and I said: ‘Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.’ ”
