No doubt you’ve seen and heard so much of Mary Kate & Ashley for the past 25 years that part of you feels like you actually know them (at least that’s how we feel!), but as they stepped away from the limelight, they stepped into a really incredible fashion career, which is what we’re focusing on today.
They started out their fashion endeavors with a hugely successful line for Wal-Mart called “Mary-Kate and Ashley: Real fashion for real girls”. As they grew up, matured and became insane style icons of their own, they launched 3 different business ventures: The Row (named after London’s famous Savile Row), Elizabeth & James and OlsonBoye, a juniors line that is a collaboration with JCPenney.
In 2008, the twins co-wrote and released a book called “Inspiration” where they show you all their favorite people in the industry that continue to inspire their work, people such as Lauren Hutton, Karl Lagerfield and Terry Richardson.

Like we said, the currently have 3 amazing fashion lines that they are very involved with. They aren’t just celebrity fashion designers that use their name while someone else does all the work, they’re personally involved with the entire process. From design concept to completion, they have their hand in every part, which is something we really respect about them, and how you know that fashion is their life, not just a way to make more money. Here’s a little more about each company:
-The Row- Their high end collection sold in stores like Barney’s New York and Bergdorf Goodman. These are your essentials. You’ll find excellent quality basic tees, leather pants, beautiful trench coats, perfectly tailed dresses and it has expanded to include jaw-dropping evening wear.
-Elizabeth and James- Their collection named after their siblings, this is their line of ready-to-wear clothing that features accessories, shoes and a completely fabulous clothing line. Here you’ll find more trend items- more shimmer, sparkle and a lot of mini’s, but still holds the same excellent quality and design work as The Row. Elizabeth and James is a huge celebrity favorite!
-Olsenboye- Their collection of completely affordable, adorable juniors clothing for JCPenney. If you know a trendy teen, you should definitely look up this collection! The prices are unbeatable, and the clothing is so dang cute!
And most recently, they’ve just launched an incredible new line called StyleMint.com. It’s this amazing idea where you sign up for their service, fill out a profile about yourself and the things you like, and then for $29.99, they send you t-shirts that are designed by Mary Kate and Ashley. We love the Olsen twins because they aren’t ever afraid to start a trend. From big glasses to huge purses, they are absolute trend setters that tend to set the scene for what’s in in the fashion world. They do it all, from design to production to promotion, and we can always appreciate a fashion forward, hard working POSH woman!
